The Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charity is a community-based charitable program that helps kids in financial need participate in organized sport and recreation such as hockey, soccer, dance, swimming, and basketball. Since the program’s launch in 2005, Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charity has helped to provide 150,000 kids in financial need to participate in organized sport and recreation.
We work closely with the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charity as they provide us with support and advice. Harry Bell, Associate Manager: Canadian Tire Jumpstart Ontario, has been working with us since 2006. It was in 2006 that our first basketball tournament took place at Brock University. He has provided assistance where needed, and without his generous help our team would not be where we are today.
The Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charity is addressing an issue that many people do not know exists. Many of us take participating in sports for granted however 1 in 3 families across Canada are unable to afford to enroll their kids in organized sport and recreation. We must work for change. We are are committed to this charity as we feel sports have played such an important part in our lives, we want other individuals to also be able to learn from organized sports activities. The Importance of Sports

All kids should have the opportunity to experience the ups and downs of sports. Sports allow kids to learn from their mistakes and learn what it mean to be a part of a team. Leadership, motivating oneself, having a positive attitude, and work ethic are also skills that children take away when they are involved in organized sports activities as a child. Finally being a part of a team allows kids the opportunity to build friendships that can last a lifetime. We truly value the role playing sports has in developing kids and we will continue to support this charity so that every kid is given a sporting chance.
